Not-so-white Christmas

"I love this song!" Greg exclaimed as the first notes of 'White Christmas' started playing. "It reminds me of when I was a kid." He switched on the coffee maker and began humming the melody.

"Do you actually get snow in San Gabriel?" Nick asked, leaning back against the kitchen counter and crossing his arms over his chest.

"Not really, but my papa and nana were always telling me about what Christmas was like back in Norway. They showed me pictures of snow-covered villages and frozen fjords that looked like something out of a fairytale, and I decided that was the Christmas I wanted to have. Of course I didn't take into account that Norway and California have two very different climates."

Growing up in Texas, Nick didn't get many white Christmases either when he was a kid. He didn't really mind, he wasn't a big fan of snow and cold in general, but he could see the appeal.

"I never actually asked you: did you ever go to Norway?"

"A couple of times, to visit my relatives. But never around Christmas. I bet it would be beautiful."

As Greg's smile grew nostalgic, Nick pushed himself off the counter. He placed his hands on Greg's hips and gently swirled him around. Greg looked surprised for a moment, his expression turning fond when Nick started slowly swaying in time with the music.

Greg wrapped his arms around Nick's shoulders and pressed their foreheads together.

"But Christmas in Vegas isn't too bad either."
