Title: Siamese twins - Part 1
Author: Ligeia
Fandom: The Cure
Pairing: Robert/Simon
Rating: PG-13
Category: Romance
Summary: Robert and Simon discover there's more than friendship between them.
The following story is a mere work of F I C T I O N, meaning it is 100% made up. None of the situations described here ever happened, and even if they did, I have no way of knowing. This is not about spreading rumours or, worse, libel. The people portrayed in this story are real, but I am NOT claiming they did what I wrote. I use their "public personas" and build stories around them as if they were fictional characters.
(Simon)
Robert looked strange as he asked me to go to his place that afternoon, almost uneasy. That was probably because of my opinion on make up. I really couldn't understand the necessity of putting up lipstick and stuff and had told him straight. I didn't like the idea, it would only make me feel ridiculous. But the sight of his utterly disappointed expression had softened my initial resolution. If it was so important to him, if he thought that was such a brilliant idea I would give him a chance. He's my best friend after all.
So there we were, sitting in his kitchen drinking some lager. He was tense, I could feel it. He had never accepted that someone could disagree with him if he thought he was right. And the idea of shooting the video for "Primary" in make up seemed not only right to him, but the best thing we could do. Of course when I told him I wasn't sure about that -I said it was a stupid idea, actually - he was put out. But I didn't expect such a bad reaction. He looked so sad, as if I'd told him he was stupid, which of course wasn't what I meant at all.
"Robert..." I started, looking at him as he stared down at the table "If it's so important for you we could try...I mean, it's just a video after all, I won't die for it."
He lifted his head up and peered at me with those blue-grey eyes that always seem to enter yours and read the depths of your soul. It was me who felt a bit ill at ease now.
"Really Simon, are you sure?" he asked "I don't want to force you, if you don't feel like it..."
"Don't worry, Rob. I still don't think it's such a great thing, but it would be fun. I guess..."
A wide smile dawned on his face and he got up, reaching for me and tugging me to my feet "Come, come with me then. I'll show you what I got."
As we went upstairs he told me he had borrowed some lipstick and eyeliner from his sister and I couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. He was just like a child who has got a new toy and wants to share it with his friend. We've always shared a lot, Robert and I.
"She won't be happy when she finds out you've nicked her make up things, Robert." I mocked him as I sat down on the bed.
"I didn't nick anything, Si. Borrowed. I'll give it all back when I'm done" he answered messing about with pens and cassettes and whatever else was on his writing desk. "Where the...oh damn! Where did I put them?"
"Maybe in here" I said opening the drawer of the bedside table. My eyes fell on a little tube. Perhaps that was what he was looking for. "Hey, Rob. What's this?"
He turned, eyes opening wide and he yanked it from my hand before I had the time to read what was written on it.
"Nothing...That's nothing Simon, never mind that..." he sputtered tossing it into another drawer and closing it loudly "Yes, I think I remember where I put them" and rushed to the coat rack, rummaging in the pockets of his jeans jacket. "Yes, here they are."
He sat down on the bed next to me, lipstick and some kind of kohl in his right hand, a small mirror in the left.
"Want to start?" he smiled at me.
"Oh no, thanks. You had this insane idea, so you're going to test it on yourself first. I don't want to be your guinea pig."
"Okay. Hold the mirror then, won't you?"
As I watched he slowly outlined his eyes with the black kohl, looking very concentrated as he did so and frowned as he smudged it a bit. I smiled inwardly at the thought of the mess I would do with that stuff.
The inner smile vanished as soon as he looked up. He was gazing at me, obviously waiting for my comments, but I couldn't say a word. The make up looked just perfect on him, the thick black line showing off that indescribable shade of blue in his eyes.
"Well...?" I heard his voice as if from far away "Do I look so bad?"
I licked my suddenly dry lips "No...Not at all, Robert. I was just…surprised at the results."
"I take it as a compliment then." he smiled sweetly at me. Why was my heart beating so fast?
"Well, it's your turn now" he said handing me the pencil, a smug smile playing across his lips. But then he changed his mind "No, let's try the lipstick first. I'm sure it'll look great on your full mouth." His fingers brushed past my lower lip as he said so and I couldn't hold back a shiver.
What the hell is going on with me...
I took the lipstick from his palm, my hand shaking slightly, and brought it near my lips. I looked in the small mirror he was holding for me but didn't really see my face. All I could think of was Robert, his shiny eyes...and my reaction to his looks.
"Are you still here, Si?" Robert asked waving a hand before my glassy eyes bringing me back to reality "What is it, don't you know how to put it on?" He put the mirror down on the bedside table and reached over to take the lipstick from my hand. "Okay, leave it to me..."
I wanted to pull back but made no move as he placed his left hand on the side of my neck just below my ear, thumb brushing lightly my jaw.
"Open your mouth a bit, Si" he said softly and I parted my lips, shivering again at the feel of lipstick sliding slowly over my lower lip. I closed my eyes.
Why...Why do I feel like this...This is Robert. Robert. My bandmate, my friend. No, it can't be. This is just insane, this is...
My thoughts were lost as Robert leaned in, his lips brushing mine sending another shudder down my spine. He dropped the lipstick which bounced over my thigh and landed on the floor. His left hand was still on my neck, the right one stroking lightly my chest then sliding down my side, stopping on my waist. I moaned as his tongue slid into my mouth, meeting mine for a brief moment before he pulled back.
We stared at each other for a while, then I took Robert's hand between mine. "What's happening to us, Robert?"
"I don't know, Si" he said in a whisper, his eyes never leaving mine. I couldn't take mine off him either, we were hypnotizing each other.
I reached up to run my fingers through his dark hair and sighed. "Kiss me again, Robin."
